An article in CAMBYTE:The revival of black and white photography in weddings

It seems as though Black and White images are making something of a comeback of late as digital camera owners rediscover the beauty of monochrome images.

Of course the black and white vs. color debate is a very personal one. Making a deliberate decision about color requires a critical eye. According to me, black and white images appear to be more timeless than color images. I’ve used a few of the images of my French wedding in black and white to whet your appetite. Here are a few of my reasons for getting a little obsessed with Black and White

Black and white photography is a kind of art that most of us forgot to appreciate. Over the years I’ve learned to value and love this sort of photography. Unlike color photography, it is clearly harder to create an amazing, impressive black and white photo, fascinating the viewer. To overcome that difficulty can be fun, and it will strengthen your abilities as a photographer. It’s not difficult to understand black and white photography in theory: Instead of colors you only need to see the tonal values of a scene – easier said than done. In practical experience it made me many times exasperated.
